PHILIPPINES?
I learned to dive in Boracay in the Philippines, in 2002. I have returned twice and LOVE IT!!!
Dumagete for muck diving, You'll find lots of critters in the sand, or by the pier. There is also Apo Is. near Dumagete for great macro and pelagic diving, (Go to the Shedd Aquarium's Wild Ref exhibit. entirely from Apo Is.) Just a sampling of what you'll find there.
Puerto Galera: The most varied diving you can find without packing your bags to go somewhere else. Rec.; wreck; deep, (300 fsw Princess Of The Orient); Drift, Batangas channel.; nature, 600 species of nudibranchs in the Verde Is. Passage. You also have the 'Washing Machine' by Verde Is. there is also the Shark Cave 90fsw.
Mactan Is; (Were Magellan was killed) grea nature dives and some wrecks.
Panglao Is. near Bohol; there is wall diving starts at 20 fsw and goes to 100 fsw. Thresher sharks can be found at times, (you have to ask) also the 'Black Forest" near Balicasag Is. ( black coral ).
Subic Bay; you can dive the New York, a 1889 battleship scutteled in Dec. 1941, 90-120 fsw, Japanese patrol boat, and even an F4 Phantom from the Viet-nam era 205 fsw.
There are 14 major wrecks in Coron, and in Palawan, you can access Tubataha reef, a world heritage site nature preserve.
You can't go wrong diving in the Philippines!!
WARNING: DINING IN THE PHILIPPINES IS THE MOST ADDICTIVE FORM OF DIVING!!!
