Default Cairns

Christmas 2007 My brother and I are going to Australia. Cairns is one have our destinations and I was just interested in advice on the way to go about diving the GBR. We were thinking liveaboards, but we are not sure what diving is like there. Any advice would be great!

I like liveaboards. Cairns is very busy, the day boats are big and they attract a lot of divers. Consequently the dive sites themselves can be a little congested.

Liveaboards tend to shy away from the larger crowds and tend to go further afield to some of the less dived sites.

Default Great Barrier Reef

Hi,

I learnt to dive on the GBR with Down Under Dive (www.downunderdive.com.au) in Novemebr 2004. They have a fantastic liveaboard boat with a great atmosphere, great food, and plenty of space. I would have no trouble recommending them to anyone.

I went on a liveaboard as part of the course - couple of days.

Really enjoyed it - good people, great diving.

Enjoy.
