Default All signed off now, but have a question.

I did my open water dives, logged the time and went over all the safety stuff with my instructor, he's happy I'm doing everything safely, and I know my stuff, so its all good.

Now one minor little thing, and since I'm new at this and it was my 1st time going down to like 40ft. I equalize while I'm going down which I found to be easier in the open water then the pool but still its a weird feeling, I equalize going up same sort of thing, no big deal. But I noticed after I was done my 2nd dive for the day that when I talk to people have a little echo feeling happening, I can hear people just fine, no pain of any sort at any time, I have pick up ear drops for swimmer's ( 'buro-sol' - Otic solution, To help prevent swimmer's ear ) and I am going to get check out by my Doc. but I was wondering if anyone out there knows this feeling if its normal is this what happens when water gets stuck in places in the ear.
Any insight would help.

Thanks all.

First of all Congrats!!!! Yes, you can have any echo feeling if you have water in your ears. You may an infection or may have equalized a little harder then you should have. Good idea have the Doc check you out. I use ear drops after almost every dive. You have to leave them in for five minutes for them to work right. So, give it time. If you hear a crackle or crunching sound at all in your ears, no question it would be water.

I had reverse block once it hurt and cost me 6 months out of the water while my ears healed. I still have trouble with the right, hence the ear drops after every dive.

Regarding it is easier out side. Remember 1-10feet 1/2, double the pressure, 33-65 feet now you are going from 1/2 and to 1/3 not as much of a step. That's why new divers are reminded its easier in the open water.

Thanks for the insight Scuba Mama. I get alittle crackle or crunching sound / water only if I try to hold my breath and plug my noise applying alittle presser to the ears then I'll hear what seems to be water.
Would I expect the Doc. to give me something a prescription of some sort or what?

I can tell you what happened with me. When I damaged my ear all they could do was to let it heal. The doctor pressure tested it after it healed to make sure things were good to go. One time they cleaned it out to flush out what was not coming out on its own. Each case varies. You should see the Doctor to make sure you have not damage your ear drum.

Well its been 1 week since I've gone to see the Doc. The bottom line was wait it out, she said that there does not seem to be any damage, what she figures I have done is get water stuck in my drainage tubes in the ear. she gave me some meds just basic (Reacton and Flownas) <--sp

I'm not 100% better, I still seem to plug up over night and when I wake up I get that same feeling as before but after an hour or so everything seem to be ok.
