Since there are members here from both sides of the Atlantic, it would help to know where you are.

Default Buying dive equipment

See if your local dive shop will price match, and if they do get it from them. The reason I say this is if you have a problem its up to them to sort it. Ever had a problem with an internet shop....AAAaaagggg

Well, it depends. If the LDS has what I want and it's not outrageously priced I'll get it from them. If not UPS will deliver it.

If there is a demand for a good or service someone will fill it (pun intended). The net has changed the nature of all kinds of commerce and those that can adapt, survive.

I have 5 dive shops here that I know well and they all know us. If you can find more than one shop and get to know the people you would be better off.
For the UPS that's OK for some but I would rather buy from someone I can Trust. I like to see, feel, hold and look at something before I buy it to know if that is what I really want. Not all equipment fits the same and I would not want to purchase something over the net and find out that it won't work for me and have to go through sending it back.

Getting your cylinders filled from an internet shop is pretty rough. Cylinders when shipped are empty. If your in a remote area and not in the land of plenty you may consider getting your own compressor. I have one friend who did this. I have watch 6 different shops close up in the pass two years and no new ones open. I do agree about certain gear and purchasing from a shop, regulators are at the top of that list. I may buy defog or books over the internet but that's about it.
