Good luck with your course at Fort William. Beautiful part of Scotland to be doing your commercial diver course.

In terms of where to go from there, I am afraid that the commercial diver route is not as busy as in the 70' and 80's. Hopefully, Fort William will have some contacts for a lucky few of you.

Basically the problem is that many of you will be newly qualified with no experience. The "catch 22" is that no experience, no job - no job, no experience.

The industry in the UK got so bogged down with too many commercial divers and not enough jobs that many newly qualified divers were offering their services for room and board only just to amass the experience! This was one of the primary reasons for my not going the commercial diver route when I left the Royal Navy.

Sorry to sound so negative but at least you can now level any concerns that you have at the Fort William setup.

Best of luck in your training and all best wishes in your new career.
