Default Diving In Other Countries

Ok so here is the deal. I have been diving in places as clean as Aruba and places as dirty as Ecuador. And I have come to a conclusion..... It is all great. But in the future I am going to transport my own gear down to there. I strongly recomend it. I was in Peurto Rico at probally 100 feet when I became very quesy. Now since that never happened before or since it made me wonder. When I reached the surface I found that a buddy of mine was also sick. Along with every member that rented gear from the dive shop. The divers with there own tanks were completly fine. I was hoping for a better anwser from some one here but I think that the tanks they were issuing were old and out of date. If you have an answer please let me know.

Not sure if I can give you a detailed technical answer, but sounds like the tanks haven't been hydro'd in a while! That's pretty scarry! Not safe at all. Another red flag would be the fact that someone actually brought along their own tank to Puerto Rico! They must have known before that the tanks there are bad? Or where they locals? I am big on using my own gear for that reason.... I always take good care of my stuff and know that it will work....Ya hate to hear of dive operations that don't take good care of their gear.

Wow that's pretty scary to hear! I'd never of imagined that some places would have issues with the gear they rented. A gear realy needs to be something safe.
It could change my way of seing things in the future
