Default Headache on safety stop

Hi to everybody, we made our certification in Belize last week,
I can honestly say first dive give me little anxiety, my wife was more
brave the me. But was much better later. After we made it, we go on the
dive outside the barrier reef, first dive was to 75 feet for 37 minutes, we did the safety stop on 15 feet and everything was great. We put 1 hour
and 15 minutes surface time and go on second dive to 60 feet for 35 minutes. We stop again to do the safety stop and this is what happened, I get headache and pressure, but only on right side of the neck and head. But soonest we reach the surface pain was mostly gone and you can just feel somehow that any pain was there little while ego. Any idea what happened and it is any serious problem I could have ? I do have little elevated HBP, but is controlled by medication. Which bring my another Q. If you are diving, is your BP going down or up under water ? Any idea ?

Congrats to you and your wife finishing the first step. Second, I would refer you to Divers Alert Network. Your headache could have had several causes, some with concern and others with out concern. Skip breathing or short quick breathing will cause headaches, bad air, picking up the cylinder wrong causing a strain in the shoulder. I highly recommend with the precondition you have for HBP find a doctor familiar with diving medicine to check you out and make sure everything is good to go. Also, the doctor would be able to answer your questions regarding blood vessels and pressure changes.

Sounds like you may have had a squeeze, maybe inner ear or sinus, which relieved itself upon surfacing. Just a thought. As with any unusual sign or symptom upon surfacing, please get evaluated. It could be nothing or it could be a DCS hit. DAN is an excellent resource for dive medicine and referals to local phsyicians with a dive medicine background. Good luck with diving and dive safe.
