Default High Pressure VS Low Pressure

Hi, I just got on this website and it's awesome! Very interesting and helpful. I am a new diver and I am curious, what is the difference between high pressure and low pressure hoses? How do they relate to tanks and other things like your console and your reg or octo? Thanks!!

A typical first stage has both high and low pressure outlets which are usually marked as such and take hoses with different size fittings. High pressure is used for SPG's (tank pressure) and air-integrated computers. Low is for regs, and BC and drysuit inflation.

Broken down, that means that gauges need to have a direct, high pressure line to the tank to accurately give you tank pressures. Everything else (regulators, bc inflator, octo) need to have that pressure regulated down to a much lower, steady pressure.
Hope that helps...
