We all had to start right where you are at now. Hope you are enjoying yourself. Just remember that all the preparation in the classroom and the pool is necessary to make your first journeys into open water that much safer.

If you are using the school equipment you may not need to obtain any equipment. Certainly the larger items should come much later when you have a little more experience under your belt. I usually find that my students like to have their own mask and snorkel.

Have a great time. Learn lots!!!

Adam,
Welcome to the forum and to diving. Keep it simple during the initial training (snorkle, mask, boots and fins). Hopefully you have the opportunity during the class to try out several different brands and styles of equipment. This is a great way to get a feel for what you may purchase in the future. You can also check with the local dive shop about purchasing rental equipment, this is usually cheaper but well maintained. Please take your time when it comes time to purchase and do alot of research. Dive safe.

Thanks all. My first time scuba-diving in the pool, well first time scuba-diving ever, they gave me a tank, jacket, and a mask.

Welcome to scuba diving, pool or not if you were using a regulator and breathing underwater you were scuba diving. Your just in a training mood.
Some things to help you out and impress your instructor. First you were using a cylinder not a tank. You put gas in a tank or your fish at home. Next you were using a jacket style BCD (Buoyancy control device) this device inflates though out the bladder, some places use back inflate BCD's, inflates only in the back hence the name, last I am sure you were also supplied a regulator, with a first stage, primary second stage, dive console (gages), alternate second stage, hint (know the terms it will make the final easier). I guarantee using the terms correctly will show your instructor how much your into learning about the sport.

Gear, I would recommend mask, snorkel, fins (open heel style). I would choose the open heel style so as your foot grows you can extend the strap and your foot will still have room. The boots you will need to change out and you out grow them. Scuba Diving is a blast, dive safe.
