Question Nitrox?

Howdy!
In these last few weeks that I've "beached" I have been reading alot of Scuba newsgroups to keep me (sane) occupied, and have gotten more and more interested in getting a Nitrox cert. My instructor offers this, and i intend to ask him all about it this weekend.

I was wondering what you all think?
How many of you dive nitrox, under what conditions, and how often?
What advantages have you had over air? disadvantages?
Any other thoughts or opinions? I'd love to hear them!

Thanks a million!

I enjoy diving nitrox. If I am on vacation or going to need to be down for a long time I like having nitrox. It does not increase your depth but it does increase the time down. Your learn more in the course.

I have my nitrox card, but I very seldom use the stuff because of the depth limitations.

It does make a difference in bottom time. The shallower the bigger the advantage.

There are no disadvantages with nitrox for recreational diving. a couple advantages are longer bottom time and feeling more energetic after your dive.

Although I disagree with the above statement of no disadvantages (PPO2 limits, max depths and oxygen toxicity are all disadvantages) and feeling more energetic (just a myth), you cannot go wrong with getting NITROX certified. Take for example this coming weekend: We are diving the "O" and NITROX is giving us more bottom time than if we were diving "regular" air. You may not need to dive NITROX very often at all, but when you do run into a situation that could call for it, you'll be glad you have the certification. Highly recommended to get it..

Dale,

How deep are you going? The good stuff like the flight deck starts at 120 - 130', or so I've been told.

From all I've read I've decided to go for it.
My instructor is having a Nitrox Class on the 18th & 19th, and I told him I'll be there!

thanks for all the input!

I did the Beloe at 130ft with 26%. Bottom time is gold.
