Hi! I am searching for scuba lessons in the general area of Ft.Hood (Austin and Waco) for my husband. This is to be an anniversary/birthday present so he doesn't know that I am doing this and I don't know anything about scuba diving (I have tubes in my ears so I don't think I can dive). Is there anyone out there who can reccomend a good place to look at? Is there a review page online? Please answer ASAP as I am running late to ship his gift to him and it takes two weeks for mail to get to his FOB. I am pretty sure this will make him a happy little soldier! There are different scuba organizations, here's a list to help you out. PADI (Professional Association Diving Instructors) They can be found on-line at PADI.com, Next is NAUI (National Association of Underwater Instructors) they can also be found on line. The is also YMCA and SSI which can also be found on line. PADI does offer training on line for the book work and testing now, he can complete this as long as he can get to the internet. Also enter scuba diving shop and your area in Texas on-line. If you call the shops they will fill you on the details and most have done surprises for people before. I know the most about PADI, that is who I teach for.

Thanks Scuba Mama! I will definately contact the local dive shops. I had been seeing the acronyms but didn't really know which was which. By the way we are originally from NW Indiana!

NW Indiana, When I was younger I was being raised in Hobert, IN. We moved to Michigan while I was a teenager. Now a days I call Chicago Home.

Go luck in Texas. I know you'll find a good shop in Texas. A lot of classes will have you buy mask, fins and snorkel before class starts. Make arrangements with them so they can fit your hubby once he back.
