Default Suggestions for Cozumel

I am a new diver. I have gone several times in Maui. A group of 4 of us (new divers) are traveling to Cozumel. There seems to be so many dive shops. We are looking for a personal experience without a huge group, but still would like a Dive Master to guide us. Is there any recomendations out there on who we should use? We are really excited and hope this is a great trip. Thanks for any suggestions!

I've been to Cozumel about 6 times. Lead a group trip on the last visit.

Without a doubt the best op I have found is Blue XTSea. The only problem with Christi's op is that she books up real fast.

If she is booked up, Blue Angel would be my second choice. The main thing to look for is an op with small fast boats. Unless you are staying way south, i.e. far from town, it's a fair trip to the dive sites. Slow cattle boats are not much fun.

If you go with either, please tell them I sent you.

I have been to Cozumel twice. The second hotel I stayed in is now closed due to damage from the last hurricane. I recommend you stay south on the island, unless your into the noise and mess of the downtown and cruise boats. I like using Emerald Dolphin Services, Tony the owner and instructor grew up in Mexico and spent time in the U.S., his English is very good. His dive operation specialize in small. You can find his services on www.cozumel.net. Have fun with whatever you decide.

I was in Coz in Nov/Dec 2006. My brother and I dove with Aqua Safari on their "fast boat" (6-8 divers). Their level of service was excellent and I'd highly recommend them. They pickup anywhere but they are the in-house op at the Cozumel Palace just south of downtown. The Palace was also great.
