Smile weight issure for beginner

Hello

My wife and i took a introductory lesson and loved it, but my wife was having a hard time with her legs wanting to service to the top. How do you know how much weight a person needs? Are women more prone to having that kind of problem?

Any help would be great, we are in the process of deciding weather to take the course or not.

Thank You
Sudsy

Not an easy question to answer. Way too many variables. Fresh or salt water? What kind of wet suit? How Many mils thick? What kind of tanks? Aluminium or Steel? I could go on. They do have ankle weights that can help with trim. I suspect that she is overweighted. I dive in fresh water with a 7mil wetsuit with 8 llbs. In salt I'll go to 10llbs. Being overweighted will cause problems with your trim. The less weight you carry the better off you are.
How much weight was she packing?
Take the course you'll love it. The instructor will be able to help with these issues and get her trim corrected. Dive safe and have fun!

I agree with glynneco. My Mom had the same problem.... she couldn't get her legs to pull her up. She did end up using very light ankle weights and that seemed to help out a lot. You really need to take the course.... you'll get much better at streamlining yourself underwater. It all comes with practise. Have fun.
