Default Hello All

Well My daughter now has a new last name! Weddings....I had no idea what a massive production they have become. I thought I would only have to write checks but noooooooooo There is just way to many details that need to handled. It seems to me that invading another country mightcompare to to the logistics involved. Now I know that this has nothing to do with diving but it has occupied me for a several weeks now. In my day we simply clubed the girl and dragged her back to the cave. Did you know for instance that there is such a thing as a flower coordinator? Not wedding coordinator but a subspecialist in this burgenoning and now thanks to yours truly more profitable industry. Another piece of wedding trivia...brides need 4 count 'im 4 pairs of shoes to make though the day. A pair of slippers (special bride slippers). Shoes to walk down the isle in. Another pair to dance in and finally a pair to leave in. Oh another piece of info the bridesmaid is responsible for the wedding shower and buying her dress so if YOUR other daughter is the only bridesmaid well you get those bills too. It was a beautiful ceremony with a string quartet playing at the church and a wonderful reception with and extra hour of hall time and open bar tacked on because everyone was having such a great time. The whole time I'm thinking I could have had a rebreather, camera, drysuit etc. The sad thing is I offered her 10k to elope thinking I could save some bucks but Mom found out and put the kebash on that idea. Lucky thing I had the foresight to have cable run out to the doghouse so I was comfortable till that poor deciscion on my part was forgotten. Well life is returning to normal and I'm glad to be thinking and planning to dive again as soon as the bank says I have a few quid to spend again......Ah the life of a newly minted father-in-law. Left over cake anyone? don't get me started on that.....

Wow.. I would say you need to get away and do some diving, but how would you finance it right now??? My daughter is 17 months old as of Saturday. I can't imagine what her wedding will be like 35 years from now. (I'm not letting her date until she's 33)

Save your pennies dude. The average cost of a wedding today is a little over 25K. 17 months old?......let's see inflation compounded over 24 years........ a lot of pennies.

Many congratulations Glyn, to all the family

I am in the fortunate position of no rugrats, no 'better (or otherwise) half'....that is probably why I can go off on cruise ships

No rugrats either, but I'm on wife #3. I'm paying for lawyers' kids weddings.

3rd time lucky, eh, Ken?

I disposed of one and only hubby 20 years ago, not looked back either. I couldn't afford to go off on cruises if I had a hubby in tow They are expensive creatures sometimes

That sounds very suspicious. Should I be calling Miss Marple?
