Well I had a revelation while I was at Lake rwlings this weekend. It was warm in the water and I was just incredibly comfortable. It dawned on me I need a drysuit. After all this time and cold water dives . Must be gettin' old.

Anyway I was looking online and dive rite has a new front zip that looks good.

Any suggestions? Advice on what to look for? What to avoid? Must have?

OK, now you've got me going. You pushed the DiveRite button.
DiveRite is the "must have" suit around here. IMHO the are great: durable, feature-packed, etc., but overpriced. Not everybody needs one that expensive.
I have a USIA basic shell suit for the following reasons:

I needed a custom cut suit, my LDS sells them, and had them on sale.

Less $$ than a neoprene drysuit, and keeps me toasty in 35 degree water. I wear a funky bulky sweater I picked up at Goodwill and thermal undies with my jumpsuit when it gets frigid.

Just to be different.

My zipper is in the back, which is fine, most people can't get into a "self-donning" suit without some help.

I have soft boots. Lots of guys have rock boots and never climb over rocks. I know I don't.

The drysuit lets me dive year-round, which I love even if my wife doesn't.

BTW, I use OMS "dry" gloves, which are really semi-dry: neoprene with long gauntlets and a second inner layer, kind of like a semi-dry suit. I like them fine, not as warm as dry gloves, but easier to use.

They are popular around here as well. You're right though about cost. After all every cent I save can go towards a blue water dive where my 3mil is plenty!

YOU bought something at the LDS? What is the world coming to?

Sale + custom fitting = moment of weakness.
