Next weekend I'm doing only my 2nd. trip to lake Michigan this season, taking a group to Milwaukee. One of the wrecks we'll be doing is one of the coolest: the Milwaukee Car Ferry, a 338 foot steel railroad car ferry loaded with 27 box cars and 52 passengers which encountered tremendous seas and sank October 22, 1929. She lies in 90 to 120 feet of water sitting upright and intact, 6 miles northeast of Milwaukee.
I'm doing the Happy Weather dance!

While you're at it, work on getting me the $$ for a good camera.

Meanwhile, here's some professional pics of it:

ooo Thanks for the link, seems like a great place to explore.

As for the money for a new camera, I will add that to my things-to-buy-when-I-win-the-lottery list. =)

Default dive #100

So how were those wrecks?? I'm dying to hear all about your trip!

I dove in Lake Mohave again this weekend with some friends and had a Great time! 4 dives, 4 friends, fried chicken, ok vis, and beautiful weather. I've not a thing to complain about!!
Oh...and I logged my 100th dive! That's kind of neat!....I'll have to get into my User CP and change my little statistics setting.

Default An obsession to Feed!

LOTS of Local Diving.
Lake Mead and Lake Mohave make up most of them, along with a half dozen excursions out to California in the last 16 months.

Day trips to the lakes on the weekends usually are 4 dives,
though often 5.
Two-day trips to the coast usually add 7 or 8 dives to the tally.

I generally start on Tuesdays e-mailing, texting, and calling folks to see who's diving the upcoming weekend...and by Saturday or Sunday I manage to come up with AT LEAST one buddy, if not half a dozen.

I have an obsession to feed here! I can't be lazy about it! LOL!

Keep in mind that the seasons are a little different out here too.

We do have "winter", that lasts from the middle of November to the middle of February --- and that means that vis at the Lake is INCREDIBLE, but unless you're diving dry (which isn't me) you're probably only doing one dive...then running to the car, to warm up and get to Starbucks. Though every now and then there will be a lovely 2- or 3-dive day - even in December.

"Spring" and "Fall" are GORGEOUS - better vis in Spring than Fall, but Beautiful days and warm nights making day and night dives too lovely to pass up! You can sit on the beach and talk til midnight on Halloween without getting cold, after some under-water pumpkin carving, and a night dive or two.

"Summer" is also know as the season of "visiting weather from HELL" around here .... where the only common sense place to be is underwater. We all run to the lakes as often as we can, do the 7mil speed-donning dance, and get below the thermoclines as quick as we can. aaahhhhhhh.......

Incidentally, acclimation to this season is why you can always tell a Las Vegan on a dive boat in California -- We're the ones wearing boat-coats, beenies, drinking hot coffee, and looking like we're freezing to death (we are) when its a crisp 72 degrees outside. BRRR!!!

So....it all adds up.
I've managed to get under water an average of three weekends a month (or more) for the last few months...and despite the sitting in "dry dock" from just after Thanksgiving until Early April (due to medical reasons and my surgery)..and the month I missed last summer for the same reasons (which is finally completely resolved! - hurrah!)....I am an Obsessed Diving Fool.

That how I find the time.....
as for the money.....

I'm broke without the diving, it just adds to it.
Happily, I can still fill the empty hours looking for naked pics of Sarah Palin.
