Default trying not to pout

just like the title said - I am trying not to pout.
I had to have some really minor surgery, and the doctor says no swimming (or diving) for 3 weeks. (that was thursday).....so I am counting down the days.

At the end of those three weeks, I have three weekends in a row planned for diving! (a couple of weekends at the lake, and another boat trip out to the Channel Islands) .... hooray!!! ....

.....it's just such a loooong surface interval.....

So I am hoping that in the mean time you all will be posting the details of your dives.....give me a chance to live vicariously for a few weeks??

thanks!

You gotta learn to DELAY all doctors until after dive season. I've planned back and knee surguries for instance to coincide with the end of the dive season. I put off back surgery till I finaly went to see the doctor. He took one look at me in the waiting room and called 911 for an ambulance to take me to the hospital.

Finished dive season though. I plan on bringing my camera to Hatteras. I'll post some pics when I get back.

Hope you get well soon Vegas. The fish miss you already!

Hang in there Vegas. Your gills shouldn't dry out to much. That's the need to get in the water again, its the gills. You develop after your 5th to 6th dive. There internal that's why you never see them. If you caught any plant earth specials they will help fill in the gap. The one on coral reefs is awesome

I did quarry diving with new students, top side was 72, first thermal cline 62. I stayed away from the second thermal cline. I had some freeze babies in the group and it was to deep for the group. We saw some great fish, bass, pike, blue gil. No catfish at Pearl Lake. I did not see as many mud bugs as in the years past. Thats no a good sign. We dove the two man submarine, milk van, speedboat, and a 45 foot cabin cruiser. Vis was any where from 3 feet to 10 feet. This is good at Pearl Lake.

Default counting down the days!

**gasp*....need to be......in...water....*gasp**

Just kidding! ....thanks so much guys! I really think with your stories and support I am going to get through this without TOO many bouts of self-pity! LOL!

I like the idea about putting off surgery till "after dive season" (though it sounds a little dangerous -- 911? wow you Are really addicted, Glynneco! I can REALLY relate!), but I don't understand the "after dive season" thing. Lake Mead finally gets good vis when the weather turns colder - so I'm not sure I can figure out when "dive season" ends out here.

GILLS! See! - I THOUGHT I was getting GILLS!! (by dive #15 I was SURE of it!) My Mother & other Non-diving friends just give me a really funny look when I talk about it though - so I just keep it between me & dive buddy now.

With your help I WILL make it the next 2 and 1/2 weeks without going too crazy! I am definitely looking forward to seeing your pix Glynneco! and I love reading about your dive classes Scuba Mama! Was it a new O/W class? how many students?

Does anyone else have any great tales to tell, too?

It was the rookies, 5 were in my group and I had a divemaster to help. The shop had an event running and did a treasure hunt. The rookies went out and did a fifth dive finding the treasure. We use colored caps, orange, then you turn them in for prizes. My divers did well.

I had one additional student, he did rescue. He is very aware now if I say, be ready for anything. Anything could happen. He had fun with his class but he said it was very tiring.

Hang in there.

And Aug. 3rd and 4th it's out to Channel Islands again!
Oh I can't wait can't wait can't wait!
(It's a wonder anyone can put up with me when I'm stuck on dry land) LOL

Hey Mama,

Have you heard anything about someone putting a copy of an ancient shipwreck at Haigh?

I have not but that would be cool.

Vegas next weekend I will be out with the rookies at Pearl Lake one of our training quarries. The divers will be in age range 13 to 41, should be interesting.

I'll be at Mermet working on stuff like shut-down drills and stage bottle usage.
