Default My Intro

Hi y'all. I'm a professor in Boston, where I've lived for 12 years. I took the plunge last year after decades (I'm 54) of "I'd really like to learn scuba diving..." I so far have made 14 dives and bought my own equipment recently. I did my first live-aboard in June, out of Singapore (to Malaysia) when I was there for a conference. I've dived in Belize, Costa Rica, Monterey, Calif., and off Cape Ann here in Massachusetts (BRRRR to those last two!) I've been a member of ScubaBoard, which seems to have disappeared, and thought I'd try this forum. I look forward to "meeting" you!

Welcome! For fourteen dives you've done quite well!

Default 14...or fewer?

To show you just what a newbie I really am, I'm assuming that three dives in one day count as...three dives! Or am I wrong? Also, a "two-tank dive" is going down twice, right? Gee, all this jargon to learn! That and the equipment seem to be the down sides of this sport for me. Although after my Malaysia dives, I'm getting scared looks from non-diving friends when I gush about nudibranch, aka sea slugs.

One tank = one dive. Your friends? You'll find new ones who dive. The old ones will start to run when you come near.

Finally someone who remembers Howdy Doody besides me!

Seriously, keep us up-to-date on your travels.

And I just checked, SB is still down. All the negative vibes must have zapped the server.

Welcome to the board.
