38? now that's insanely cold.....only if you do it again. I love insane. Some of my best friends are insane. Of course a lot of people think anybody who dives is insane no matter what the temp!

Around here temps are always a big topic of conversation at the beginning and end of the season.

My first dive in lake Michigan this season was 35 top to the bottom at 120'.

I must be nuts.

Well, since we are all sharing our cold water stories...I did the Polar Bear Club for a couple years when I was living in Northern Wisconsin. I have no idea how cold it was, but on January 1st we would have to cut a hole in about 7 or 8 inches of ice in order to get in. I just wore a pair of shorts and my neoprene boots. They were fairly short swims, anything real long would have been fatal, obviously. The ice would feel warm against my skin as I climbed out of the pool onto the frozen lagoon. Of course, everyone would run over to the jet heaters at the bar that sponsored the event, to warm up. Everyone thought we were crazy, but I call it adventurous. It got me and a few friends in the newspaper anyway... Our 2 seconds of fame!

Now I don't feel quite so nuts.

Don't blame me! I learned it by watching my dad! Like he always says, "crazy is relative. What is NORMAL anyway?" If you ever met my family, I am probably the most "normal" one out of the bunch!

Everyone is crazy. It's just that some of us deal with it better than others!

Only the voices in your head can answer that.
