Lightbulb Diver Submerges In 15 Feet Of Raw Sewage

Quote:
Two weeks ago, Grand Island, Neb., declared a sewer emergency. Diver Dave Lemburg spent 20 minutes submerged in raw sewage to shut off a broken valve at the city's wastewater treatment plant.

Lemburg has been receiving five or six letters a day. Most are addressed to "the Grand Island Hero," and almost all are from strangers.

Some sent money, others tried humor, sending antibacterial wipes and bottles of hand sanitizer. However, Lemburg remains humble.

"I did this out of the kindness of my heart, not to win any awards," he said...........

I can't resist. Talk about diving in a
S**t Hole. Vis must have been like Pea Soup. No thanks, one job I never want to do. Maybe I'll summit this over to Dirty Jobs and see if Mike Roe wants to film it. If I broke the rules zap the response but this is too good to pass on.

You are, of course, assuming that everyone on Grand Island, Nebraska eats nothing BUT pea soup

I take my hat off to the man (but will definitely NOT shake him by the hand). I did some of that dirty diving stuff whilst in the Navy. It did make me the brunt of some jokes but never ever had people sending me letters of thanks or money. Obviously I was in the wrong job.
