It's a high altitude lake.....
water temps run in the 50's in the winter & spring.
In summer, surface temps can get to 80 degree, but don't let that fool you, there are a couple of thermoclines, so below 65' you are back into the 60's &50's again. (even when the air temp is 105 degrees or more!)

Vis is best in late fall, winter, and early spring - can be 20', 30', or even 40' I've heard.

In summer, the algae blooms & cuts the vis down quite a bit (and if you happen to be in Scuba Park, with a bunch of brand new divers, it might be 0'-10'). - however, (I've heard) that you can actually dive "below" alot of the algae, go a little deeper & vis can go back up to 25' or more (depending on where you are diving).

I just saw the episode of "Deepsea Detectives" about Scapa Flow. That's a very cool place. Huge amount of wrecks in a very small place. Sounds like a blast!!! Post some pics when you get back from it..

Default this weekend 6/9

I'm off to beautiful lake Michigan and the wreck of the Wisconsin, one of my favorites:

Wisconsin 95 ft. - 130 ft. (Kenosha) - Sunk as the result of a northeasterly gale on October 29, 1929. The deck of the wreck begins at 95 ft.. The bottom is at 128 ft.. The ship is sitting squarely on her keel in a near upright position. The steel superstructure of the wreck is nearly swept away, exposing the supporting I-beams. In her cargo hull, three vintage automobiles remain - a Hudson, an Essex and a Chevrolet touring car.

Seeing those old cars is something else!
