[quote=MgicTwnger]Just so we know that we are not just a bunch of cyber-divers, how about discussing where we will be/have been diving this week?
I'll be going up to Haigh quarry, SE of Chicago, to work on some skills and gear adjustments. For those of you on the other side of the pond, this weekend (Memorial day) is the unofficial start of summer in the US.

Thanks for asking!
I was diving out at Lake Mead with some friends (from their boat) and my instructor yesterday. We were diving on "the Batch Plant" - the old structures where they mixed up the cement to build the Hoover Dam, now underwater in the Lake that the Dam created. It used to be a deep dive just to get to the top of it, but the water level is over 80' lower than it was a decade ago, and still dropping, so the top is now above the surface and new sights are within reach each week.
My instructor took me on my first deep dive, down to 94', where we checked out all sorts of railroad pieces and pipes and the like from the plant, while a bunch of Blue-gill hovered way above us. Vis was about 15'-18', water temp at the surface about 70 degrees, at 90' it was about 59 degrees.
Our second dive, around 55' - 60', there was still alot of debris to check out...but for me, I LOVE the fish, so it was all about the blue-gill!

One followed my sweetheart all around as though it had just discoverd a new best-friend, and another decided to come up, look me right in the eyes, then kiss my mask. too cool!
*sigh* it's such a sad thing to have to stop playing with the fishies, come back to the surface, and now return to work

. I try to just think of it as "the weekly extended surface interval" and that helps a little. So does knowing that this Saturday I'll be diving in the Ocean (Santa Barbara Islands) for the first time. Oh!! I can't wait!! is it friday yet??
Anybody else go diving this weekend?
