Hello all...new to the forum but finding a lot of interesting stuff...now time to narrow my search...

Will you rate these places for me...go w/ the best to the worst...I have the opportunity to stay in one of these places for $350 for a wk....

1. Maztlan
2. Baja
3. Puerta Vallerta
4. Uraguay
5. Canary Islands, Spain
6. Dominican Republic
7. Barbados
8. Guadeloupe
9. Panama
10. Columbia

I can get around when it comes to speaking spanish also...not an expert...but i can hold my own...lol

I see that people are looking but still no replies...did I say something wrong?

Surely someone has been to some of these places and could help a person out on narrowing them down....

No, you didn't say anything wrong. You gave a lot a places to rate and they are not all top dive spots, so making a list is a little rough. What I can tell you is Baja and Puerta Vallerta are on the Pacific side and tend to be rough. Of the choices on your list I would choose Canary Islands, Spain as number one. Barbados would be my second choice because if the diving is ok, its still Barbados and would be cool just to travel around.

The others on the list depend on the political climate and location you are staying at.

I really didnt expect someone to have gone to all those...lol....I am just trying to make sure I have a great trip planned for the wife...

What you said was perfect...

Canary...Barbados..then Baja and PV...that is what I wanted....

I just had no idea about these places and they all make themselves sound so great...so I wanted some input...

Hi Bud,

I wanted to add to the former recommendation for Barbados. I spent two weeks there with my family, where we had a fantastic introductory dive. Not too challenging for an advanced diver, but the fish & corals were beautiful! They have an area roped off strictly for divers, where you can walk out from the shore to depths of 60 ft. + and enjoy the shipwrecks-turned-reefs. Gorgeous.

It's a great spot to take your wife as well...full of romantic restaurants on the beach with great food. The island is completely safe to explore at your leisure.

Thx for all the help, but one of my long-time friends got stationed in HI and they have an extra King size bed available so we are going to save a little Dough on Room and Car and go there....Thx again...now I have to start my research HI...
