Lightbulb Bends diver airlifted to hospital

A diver has been taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary by helicopter suffering from the bends.

The 22-year-old man had been diving in St Abbs Harbour, north of Eyemouth, with seven other friends from a club in the Lothians.

When they resurfaced at about 1220 BST the diver showed signs of decompression sickness.

He was taken by RAF helicopter to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary - the nearest site with decompression facilities.
