Question What about insurance when diving

Do you need some sort of insurance when diving, do dive schools have to have 3rd party type insurance or must you get your own?

DAN is the standard dive insurance the world over. They offer protection for stuff not covered in typical health plans, like emergency evacuation or a trip to the deco chamber, and also stuff like equipment and trip insurance. Most divers I know carry it.

As for a learning environment, over here, the Students will fall under the insurance of the Instructor/Diver Shop they are being taught from. (Scuba Mama, please correct me if I'm wrong here)

As soon as I finished my O/W, I purchased DAN insurance. Been carrying it ever since.
