Not right yet.. We have a group here we plan things with.. It'll probably be late Spring or early summer. Since most of us are Government/Military, we try and do trips like this around a Federal Holiday if we can. We'll nail down a date at least a month or so in advance. As soon as we figure it out, I'll let you know. I'll probably be asking your advice about Dive Operations and sites now that I know you the place.

It looks as though my diving in 2008 is going to be as scant as last year
I have just extended my stay in Angola by another year.

That said, a couple of us have put our heads together and are looking at flying down to South Africa in June/July for an extended long weekend to do some diving there and maybe even try out the cage dives with some great whites.

I will be flying out to the Red Sea at the end of September to take a liveaboard trip out to the northern Red Sea wrecks. Have done it before and had a fantastic time. Intend to try it all over again but with a camera!

I have just read a really interesting article on the Graveyard of the Atlantic and a couple of my dive buddies are setting the wheels in motion. This may have to be a 2009 adventure for me though.

Ken, you mentioned one of your dive destinations would have to be Tobermoray. I am assuming that this would be the west coast of Scotland Tobermoray?! If so, you must let me know when it will happen. We dive up there quite a lot and it would be great to meet up and show you around (both above and under the water)

Whatever your plans are this year. Dive Safely.

A great white dive would have to rank up there as the number one thrill dive!!! They are just so dang expensive to do.. We need to import some Great Whites into the Gulf of Mexico so they are cheaper for us to visit.

I live in the DC area and all the top predators are out and about the countryside scarfing up voters and dollars. Eventually when it drys up they will return to digest their meals, mate, and plan their next forays. Forget CNN Nat Geo should be following this!

LOL!
well, I got an update...

The pouty face in the subject line is there because the doc says I have to have the surgery, right away, and that's going to put me out of work for 8 weeks and not allowed to lift anything over 10 pounds (or drive a car!) for 10 weeks! (so definitely no slinging scuba tanks around).

Like the good little scuba-junkie that I am, my sweetheart & I figured we'd get in one last "hurrah!" before I'm sent to dry dock, and got ourselves set up on a boat trip on the lake for Saturday. Unfortunately, the weather is turning, so I'm going to have to cancel (doc says I CANNOT afford to catch a cold, and rainy weather out on the lake is NOT where I should be 2 days before surgery.)

So (even though it sounds like I'm doing the "poor me" routine) I'm actually in good spirits and pretty optimistic that all will be well. In the context of "the rest of my life" a couple of months to get my health all back on track (and get rid of this pain!) is not that big a deal.
....and besides....

I have micronesia to look forward to!

---I will tell you though, come April, I should be in SERIOUS WITHDRAWAL, and ready to blow bubbles in the darned BATHTUB if I can get away with it! LOL!

Do what the doc says and get well soon. The water will still be there.
