Bummer about the Eco-dive.

I had a fine day at Haigh quarry, beautiful weather, crummy viz, good companions. The new drygloves were a disaster: they flooded as soon as I hit the water and soaked my suit to boot. I'm going to mess with the seals and try again. Even with flooding I was warm in the 57 degree water, that's balmy for around here.

Wow!
I'm so sorry about those gloves! ...but I'm glad you had a nice day regardless!

Lake Mohave is deceptively warm at the surface, 84 or 85 degrees...
gently getting cooler as you decend....about 22' down you notice a real
change...just enough that it feels nice to be cooling off on a hot day....
then right at about 42' give or take a foot IT HITS.
BRRR! WOW! thermocline! - like a
smack in the face! LOL! ....and then again right at about 60'....
*whap*!!
and thoughts like "Holy Toledo! why on earth didn't I wear my hooded vest??"
start streaming though the back of one's mind!

110 to 115 degrees on the beach, and all around are divers sitting around with
7mm wetsuits half on. It's almost comical.

If you have an EZ-up and a big ice chest at Lake Mohave in August, you
will ALWAYS have friends. LOL!

When the temps get hot out on lake Michigan, some captains keep guys sitting around in drysuits (waiting to get in) cool by pouring buckets of lake water on their heads. No fun being in 90 degree heat dressed for 45 degree water!

Hey All,

My ears are on the mend. I was able to try out new fins while on the dive that messed up my ears. Atomic split fins with spring clips. I was hard core Mares or nothing. Now, I own a pair of Atomic splits fins, loved them. Easy to use and adjust my movement plus how easy they were to pull off and on. Four weeks to go and its diving time again.

Glad your ears are getting better. I also have Atomic splits, which I also like. I switch between them and OMS Slipstreams (Jetfin clones) depending on what I'm doing.

Chirp. Chirp.

I've been so dang busy lately, I can't get on here but like once or twice a week.
Looks like I'm not the only one that's busy..

My hours have been cut in half, and I just had dental surgery. I won't be diving for a while.
