Default Your goals in Diving

Just curious to see what you all are diving for.

I recently changed from pure recreational diving to want to progress through the Padi chain of certification. I'm halfway done with my AOW, and have done some rescue stuff but am certified in neither. I like teaching and would love to get to the instructor level someday.

So here's my question..... what are some of your long term goals with diving? Photography? Video? Recreation? Treasure hunting? Work? Please.... chime in.

Treasure hunting in wrecks would be the ultimate for me!
I'm not sure how good you are suppose to be though before you can plan a serious excursion in this purpose though

I am open water, nitrox, AOW, rescue, advanced nitrox, and cavern as of PADI's standards. my future goals are intro to cave, divemaster, instructor, trimix, and then probably full cave. I dunno maybe trimix and full cave will come before divemaster and instructor, but i love the sport so i would love to pass it onto newcomers

Nice topic scuba jerm. I have my DM now and help with students. My goal is to retire from my current job and work in the industry at some resort/dive destination! No pressure/worries. Make enough money to pay for my addiction and a trip now and then. Sounds good huh? I like it. Be a DM in USVI or Belize or Fla keys or............

I just kept swimming. I'm now at PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer, I took a break for a bit but now I am looking to advance to the next level PADI IDC Staff Instructor, someday going onto Course Director. I love teaching students and would love someday to teach up and coming instructors. I have trained divers from beginning who are now diving technical. Its cool to watch the new divers find the passion and keep going.

I would like to retire to a small island in the future, work with a shop/resort and generally get good pay for what I love to do.

I have two goals in diving. First is to dive as often as possible, especially with retirement approaching in 3 years. Second is to continue to advance in public safety diving eventually becoming an instructor.

When I started - there were many things I was never going to do - never is a long time.

I am now an SSI Dive Con. I honestly think I will stop here - I don't have a desire to be an Instr.

I'm a recreational diver who got back into it about seven years ago after a long hiatus. I want to dive on as many wrecks as I can and plan to do tech and trimix training this year if I have the $$ and the time.

I recently finished my second IDC to become a Staff Instructor. I started my DM class never intending to work as a DM, let alone teach, but I found I loved it. Now my goal is to sit back and enjoy my accomplishments. Continue teaching but enjoy a lack of goals for a bit.

Default Goals?

hmmm.... I guess my original goal was simply to take some vacations to warm, sunny places with beautiful beaches and get some opportunities to check out what was under the water.

Along the way I just happened to do other stuff like dive Lake Michigan, get a drysuit, become a Divemaster, then an Instructor, wreck diving, cavern diving, buy TONS of gear....

My Goal..... it is still simply to take some vacations to warm, sunny places with beautiful beaches and get some opportunities to check out what is under the water!
