Default Dive Computer!> Which one to get!?

HI Everyone!
Recently I and my brother completed a scuba certification class with a nice final exam which took place in Dutch Springs. No matter what I am looking for a very good computer (not super expensive, meaning $1,000 up) for me and my brother. Maybe a backlit feature might be nice if we ever decide to go night diving, but it is not a priority. Also which is better a wrist or the one on the pressure gauge? If you have any suggestions I will greatly appreciate it. THANKS!

I like both computer setups, the wrist is nice because you always know where it is... and the hose is perfect too, cuts back on gear you need to keep track of. I think you'll find alot of opinions on what to get, but I'd recommend the Atmos Elite dive computer. It's a wrist computer that has everthing you'd need. it uses a wireless transmitter at the 1st stage monitoring your air, backlight, Air/Nitrox settings, etc. It's a great setup. I am using it's little brother..... the Atmos 2 wrist computer. It's not air integrated which would be nice, so I'll just need to wait till more funds come in before I purchase the Elite. I think the Atmos Elite goes for $669.00

Have fun

I prefer a wrist model. If it breaks down you still know your depth and air. Back up Back up. I dive with a Suunto Vyper about $400 and two gas. The Dive rite NiTek Duo also at $400 is a great two gas unit. Both are backlit and can be downloaded into a PC to log and plot the dive. More then that is just dive bling IMHOP. But hey, bling ain't bad if you can swing it! I was on a boat and two people were diving with new equipment. During both dives their air intergrated computers were beeping at them the entire dive. During the surface interval they were asking everyone what the lung emblem meant. They were clueless. Sometimes too complex is a bad thing.
