Default Diving Computer

Hey guys.

I have now began a search to find a good diving computer. I dive mostly freshwater quarries and Lake Erie. I would like to find one where i can download the info from the dive to my computer. I currently use air, but i am looking into taking some Nitrox classes, so that would have to be an option on the computer. Price range is I would really really like to keep it under $300. So if you have any ideas please post them up.

Thanks-

Check out the the dive rite duo about $389. A little more then your budget but this stuff lasts a long time so you shouldn't skimp....... Or get the cheapest thing you can find on line and get a nicer one when you can afford it and use the cheapie as a back up. NITROXless computers can be pretty cheap. If you have any trouble seeing though bite the bullet and go for the dive rite duo. The things do you no good unless you can see 'im.

If you can swing it, I would go for the nitrox now. They are not much more expensive and you won't have to replace it when you take the class. My fave is the Mares MRSM2C console which has a SPG. You can get it online for around $380.

good luck finding that for under 300 bucks. however, i recently was shopping for a computer and found an Atmos 2which i believe gives you what you want. it was only $199 from scubatoys.com. they may be gone now but have a look. the only reason i did not buy it was because it was two years old i think. it was new but 2 yrs old.

Default Nitrox computer

I'd agree with MgicTwnger go for the nitrox now and you will save. Its not much more for the nitrox and lets face it if you dive you will start using nitrox.

I bought a Suunto Vyper for just a little over $350. This is a wrist computer, not air integrated of course. However, I love it. It is very easy to use, Nitrox capable. There is also the Suunto Cobra, which is the air integrated version. It is closer to $500 though... I keep hearing the Suunto computers are fairly conservative, which just means it keeps you on the safer side of the tables.
