Do some research on the internet. I recommend using scubadiving.com for their gear reviews. They are an excellent resource for comparing and researching. Also, check with your local dive shop. They may have package deals or even used/rental gear at a lower cost. One thing you should consider is what type of suit to buy. I am also from the northeast and dive year round. I prefer a semi dry neoprene suit 7/5 mm. From the bay in the summer to under the ice in the winter it keeps me warm and toasty. The other option is a drysuit, which may eat up a good part of your budget. Look around and you will find what best suits your needs. Dive safe. |
