Post question about trim pockets

I have a Scubapro Knighthawk BC. It is back inflate. It has trim pockets on the back. What exactly do the trim weights do? Is it for roll ( side to side ) trim or to keep your head up or down. The instruction manual don't talk about how much weight to put in them or what the weight does for you.
I have 2lbs in each one. I feel like my feet kinda want to float up over my head during my safety stop in salt water. Does the trim weights have anything to do with that... Thanks

The trim weights are to counterbalance the ditchable weights and help you get horizontal. They can probably hold 5 lbs. each, but I am guessing.
If you have "floaty feet" the answer might be ankle weights. Try moving lead from back to front.
Better yet, take peak performance buoyancy.

Do you have any other wgt on? Is 4 lbs it? What tanks are you using? AL 80's?
If you are only using 4 lb total you might go up a few or ditch the al and go steel. It sounds like you're underweigted.

One other thought (yeah, I sometimes have more then one) Is this floaty feet thing happening only at the end of the dive? If it is try moving your tank higher up. If you normaly carry it low. At the end of the dive it will be positively buoyant and would change your profile markedly. Moving it higher would change the center of gravity.

Good one, I didn't think of that. Moving anything around will effect your trim, and the tank is the biggie.

Thanks for the input so far! I am using 24lbs total weight but I only have 2lbs in each trim pocket. I will try lifting my tank a lil, my feet only tend to float at the end of the dive. I just like having plenty of head clearance at the regulator. I might even by me some light ankle weights. Oh and I have been using Alum.80's from the LDS. Thanks again for all the knowledge!!!

Oh yeah, one more thing...... I have Scubapro Twin Jet Max split fins.. They are the only fins that I have ever used, And I know that if you take them off underwater they shoot to the top. Do most fins float? Maybe that is my problem right there. Ok then until next time.

Lots of fins float, especially the newer styles. Different fins or ankle weights might be the answer.

Floating Fins? Heresy! When equipment falls off it should sink to the bottom providing a good excuse to buy MORE equipment!

With all this floaty stuff it messes with your buoyancy and causes you to add wght to compensate and hurt your SAC. It's about the bottom time folks! It's about who comes up last!

You need an excuse? All I need is a working credit card.
