Default Question on buying first time gear

I have never dive before and still looking for a class to take.
But I am very sure this is something that I will love to do. So I don't really want to get anything that I will need to "upgrade" to something better later.
I also want to buy all my gear before I start

My questions are:
What gear will I need and what is a good brand/cost?
I only plan on diving in freash water and the swimming pool to start out with but will do some salt water diving as well in the future.
Is there any difference in gear for salt/freash water?
Also, where can I go to get all the basic info.

Thanks

Most of the time when you take a course the instructors would recommend for you the better gears... But fresh water diving... ermm... its kind of boring...

True.

And either ways, why would you need any diving gears to dive into swimming pools?

As far as i know, there shouldn't be much/any difference between gear for fresh/salt water diving (please correct me if i am wrong). If at all the only difference in the gears would be between the pressures that you have to stand which depend on how deep under the water would you prefer to go!!

Why would you go diving in freshwater? Just out of curiosity. Not to offend anyone.

Fresh water can be fun.... but not as good as Salt of course!

Regarding the question posted: Your instructor will have their own opinion as to what gear you need to get, but it comes down to what you can afford, and what fits best. BTW you can get gear cheaper online.... usually as much as 20% off the Local Dive Shop price.

Personally I like these brands. Oceanic, Aeris, XS Scuba. They make great gear that you won't need to upgrade. Good luck, and have a great time with Scuba.

Theres a lot of good gear out there, you cant really go wrong but it won't hurt to talk tot he dive instructor. Something you might what to think about going from freshwater to salt is weight. you float more in salt water meaning you'll need more weight.
