Which scuba equipment brands are best

I was just wondering what scube equipment brands are the best. There are so many, I wondered if there were some clear cadilacs or pintos of the equipment world. Thanks.

There are nearly as many opinions as there are brands. Like anything else, you get what you pay for.
It is not until you get into the more advanced aspects of the sport that choices narrow down, and there are still a few brands for each kind of gear that will fit the bill. I make my decisions based on suitability, service, reputation, and price.

Yea, the whole brand thing can get a bit confusing... For example my favorite computer is an oceanic, but my favorite BC is a Zeagle Brigade. So you really want to hook up with someone who will help you figure out what is best in your budget for what you want to do with your diving.

And to make it even more confusing... there are some "manufacturers" that actually hardly manufacturer anything. They just slap their name on other peoples gear.

Yeah, it's what works best for you. What are you most comfortable in. They basically all work OK.

As you dive more your tastes will change as well. What made sense early on will seem slightly daft later.

If you're comfortable in it go for it!

Here's a good question: what is the most ridiculous piece of gear you have ever bought? I'll have to look through the boxes of stuff I have for my answer.

there is no answer for that, since there are so many different types of diving. but lets say you do alot of tropical diving and want a light bc for traveling, the zeagle stiletto is light and packs down to almost nothing.
