Default short fins for travel snorkeling

Anyone have a recomendation for what short fins I should buy to snorkel with while traveling? I have to order off the net, as I have no dive shop nearby. I have gotten tired of toting around my regular long diving fins all over. I have seen the Aqua Sphere Zip fin. Any feelback?

What is the length of your fins? My regular diving fins fit easily into a normal 25" roller style piece of luggage. I have several pair all of which are about 24" in length. Do you have free diving fins? Anyway I have seen people trim the ends of their fins off to get them into their luggage. I never unserstood why they didn't just buy a regular sized piece of luggage.

Check out us divers web site. The have several varities of short fins. I would recommend a solid blade fin rather than a split. I have a pair of short split fins which I use for swiftwater rescue, they work great. But, I took them snorkling at a lake and wasn't impressed. Seemed like I worked alot harder than using my standard sized Jet Fins. Other brands to check out are Churchhill Fins or I believe Voit makes the Duck fins.

Thank you for your reply. I have been focusing on both of the US Diver short fins, but I have not been able to understand the difference in the two, except for the obvious differences brought out in the photos. One is the Shredder Surf 2 Fin, which is red and has an ankle strap, like the body surfers use. The other is the US Diver Trek Fin, which looks almost identical to the Shredder, but is blue, and does not have the ankle strap. I am rural and do not have a dive shop to use to examine the fins. Do you have an opinion on these two fins? Part of my problem is the Trek is recomended for snorkeling and the Shredder is not, but the logic for this is not revealed. Also, US Diver is in the UK now, and hard to get info from. Funny thing how 41 years ago I started diving and had almost all US Diver equipment, including a US Diver single stage regulator. Their gear then was very good stuff. I will try to never bother you again. I appreciate your time. Michael Pollard

I am not familiar with the Shredder Surf II or the Trek fins so I cant help with a comparison. The only diffrence I found after some online research is price. The Shredder is about $30US and the Trek is sold as a package with snorkle and mask and is about $60US. The fins I use are similar to the red Shredder fins on us divers web site. Hope this helps.

I have the Shredder surf 2 Fins and have found them invaluable for holidays and pool sessions. I dive with them in warmer climates and thay are fine. For such little fins, they work really well. Tey are also really great for snorkelling and you wouldn't realise that they aren't any longer, part from that you don't get fatigued as much.

Hope that was helpful
