Question contact lenses?

Hi!
I was wondering if any of you dive wearing contact lenses? Do you run into any problems when you do?
thanks!

Well, I'm completely inexperienced, as the only dives I've done are my pool and cert dives, but I've used contacts for all of them. I have extremely sensitive eyes and virtually NEVER wear contacts, but even so, I had no difficulty with them on the dives. That includes during the cert dive when you have to do the no-mask swim and sit there for a minute without your mask. After I put my mask back on and cleared it, they were a little bit blurred, but corrected themselves pretty quickly after a few blinks. I'm not sure if others have had problems, but I will continue to dive with contacts until I manage to get lasik. I'd say go for it, personally.

One thing, though...I wouldn't recommend opening your eyes underwater without your mask on--if it gets knocked off, keep them closed

I dive with lenses and don't have any problems. When I did my skills, clearing mask,no-mask swim etc I just kept my eyes closed. My instructor also allowed me to do this. If I couldn't wear my lenses I couldn't see anything!!

Thanks for the replies!
I just started wearing contacts, and don't wear them every day....but definately want to be able to see EVERYTHING on my dive boat trip out to Santa Barbara Islands in a couple of weeks.
Thanks!

I wear contact lenses too and have not had any problems yet. If you don't want to wear contacts there is always the option of getting a perscription mask. They are not necessarily much more expensive.

Just wanted to follow up on this thread and let everyone know that I got my contacts, and have logged six dives while wearing them -- no problems at all! thanks!
