Default A cramp!!!

What are we suppose to do when we get a cramp underwater?
It happened to someone i know some time back and apparently it was one of the most scariestmoments of his life..whatever mouvement he tried to do, the pain in his leg was too strong and he sank, luckely he wasn't diving alone that day

Default cramp

I had that happen this past weekend. Get bouyant grab your fin and pull. I was diving in low vis (5ft or less) and quickly lost the group I was with. I worked the cramp and monitored depth. When it got controllable I went looking for my buddies. After a couple minutes I surfaced, fully inflated my BC and began swimming slowly back to shore. I had to stop repeatedly to work the cramp. My buddies had surfaced significantly further away. I signaled I was OK. They stayed in the water and monitored my progress. It took awhile but I made it back.

The moral? Make sure you are hydrated even on a cool day.

I often wear a pull -blow up jacket over my swimming suit, that way if i have a real bad problem, i pull on the cord and the jacket blows up slowly taking me back to the surface. This is a gadget i found during a trip and i thought that it was a realy good idea...just incase

How do you control your ascent? I'd be paranoid. How do you make a safety stop? I'll stick with a BC. I do carry a lift bag as a back up if I have an air bladder problem. (at my age you have to be specific when making bladder references). How do insure it won't deploy inadvertenly?

i've never had an underwater cramp yet , well not during a dive in the sea, it has happened when i was younger and often would go to the simming pool and that was bad enough for me to remenber it, no doubt that it will happen to me one day but i'm not in a hurry

I got a terrible cramp once, i'll never forget. It shot way up my leg and was horrid, i realy thought i was going to die, the pain was so intense that i couldn't think of anything else and even pulling on it didn't do a thing. I nearly did drown!
