Default drinking and diving

i have a friend who often has 2 or 3 glasses of booze before he dives.
I have told him that i don't think it's a very good idea but i realy don't know how to debate this. What problems can it lead to realy?

Drinking and diving is a big no no. Two of the many things it can cause is alterations in sensations such as pressure changes leading to barotrauma and dehydration which can lead to decompression sickness.

Not to mention it slows your reaction time and adds on to the effect of narcosis. Bad idea!

one of the biggest "no-no's" in diving. If your friend isn't afraid of "the bends" or decompression sickness or narcosis, I'd say let them continue.... but seriously, by adding alcohol to your system before a dive dramatically increases their chances of a having a really bad day... perhaps their last one. Barotrauma, dehydration, Decompression sickness, and narcosis are all terrible..... save the booze for later.

Default Drunk Diving

Is it safe to drink the night before a dive the following morning? I plan on learning how to dive before I head to Hawaii in October. Im sure we will be having some drinks with dinner maybe every night?

Is that a bad idea also?

Personnally, I would limit the drinking the night before to 1 or 2 with the meal. Think of what happens when you drink. You pee alot the more you drink. The more you pee the more you dehydrate yourself. Dehydration can lead to decompression sickness. Drinking and diving dont mix.

Lets clear this up drinking and diving NO.
If your new to the sport, give yourself have the full experience of diving. You will have enough to think about. Setting up your gear, showing you know the basic skills, responding to the instructor. Not to mention, there will be so many cool things to see. Why would you want to muck it up?
If you want the drink wait until the diving is done and it is an appropriate time to celebrate.

It's like all sports, alcohol isn't compatible.
Like boozing before a sprint or a race...I don't know any sports where you can have the luxe of drinking too
