Default Ear Squeeze

As some of you may or may not know. I have been awaiting my brother's entry into the underwater world for quite some time now. He FINALLY begins his training in April.

When I did my training, I remember I had issues with getting my right ear to pressurize which would result in a light ear squeeze. It took quite sometime to get, but I FINALLY got the ear to pressurize. But for the life of me I can't remember how I did it. When I try the squeeze the nose and blow method (sorry can't remember the name), my left ear is where all the air goes. I even closing that ear and I get nothing from my right. Even yawning and swallowing does nothing for the right ear. Is there anything else that I can try to get this ear to "function" properly? I know that once I can start to pressurize it; it will be easier to do in the future. I just need to get it started since I haven't had to do it for almost 3 years now. Even when I fly I have issues getting it to pop and get to the correct pressure. Any help/or advice would be appreciated.
