Where do you exactly dive in Chicago, river diving or something as it isn't like if it was near to a sea or anything?

I have never heard of diving in chicago either? do they have a man-made structure or something like that? All the people i know of go sea diving and i have to agree on the fact that you don't find any sea near chicago.... a lake maybe?

I don't think I would say that Chicago is the "best" dive destination in the US but diving Lake Michigan is a blast.

I don't know that I would say best, but there is some excellent wreck diving in Lake Michigan. In all the Great Lakes for that matter. I guess if you live in Chicago, you have a lot of diving within a days drive. The Great Lakes, Haigh Quarry, Pearl Lake are closest. Then you can drive further to get to Gilboa, Mermet, Bonne Terre Mines, Missouri's cave/cavern systems, France Park, Devil's lake. And there are more.

I guess Chicago really isn't as landlocked as it might at first appear!

What Julie said is all true. When I moved to Illinois from the east coast I never even thought of diving here. That all changed on my first Lake Michigan dive. The wrecks are incredibly well preserved because of the fresh, cold, rather sterile water and the Chi area has some of the most experienced and friendliest divers you will ever meet.
