Hi, we're off to Roatan in February 2007 for 2 weeks and would love some more info about the diving there. We are a family of 5 (our kids are 12, 14 & 16) and we all got certified in September 2005. Did you do a shark dive? Was it worth the extra money? How long did it last & how many sharks did you see?

I have been in Roatan three times. I loved it. There is something for everyone there. There are not tons of sharks some but no over whelming. The eagle rays are cool. There a lots of sea horse, good luck these guys are hard to find. The shore diving was fun and easy where I stayed. I know most resorts advertise shore diving you should have a good time. My vote is worth the money. However, stay of the sand as much as you can the bugs are nasty.

Agreed that Roatan is really terrific. We didn't do a shark dive, but I had a friend who went to Utila for one, but didn't see the whale sharks.... So - my recommendation is just stay in Roatan and you'll find it terrific. Some of my favorite sites there are Spooky Channel, Hole in the Wall, and the El Aguila wreck. Keep in mind some of these are more advanced dives.
