Just returned from Curacao I just returned from a week at Sunset Waters on Curacao. We booked 2/day boat dives thru the on-site dive shop, Sunset Divers. As far as I'm concerned, it was outstanding!
The all-inclusive resort is isolated from town and, while we were there, very quiet. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Good food and good service. Beautiful beach and a great house reef for shore diving at any time.
The diving was fantastic and the folks at the dive shop were terrific. Divemasters Bruce and Karsten were helpful, knowledgable and fun. We did 14 different dives in 6 days - none more than a 15-20 minute boat ride. Water was in the low 80's. Saw turtles, octopus, lobster, eagle rays, morays, drum fish, scorpionfish, crab, barracuda, flounder, sharptail eels and the usual assortment of reef fish. On the way to dive sites, saw leaping yellowfin tuna, flying fish and dolphins. Visibility ran about 75'.
Slight drawback was the room. Definitely not the Ritz - but a great view of the setting sun. And just the sort of laid-back place I like. If you want a 5-star glitzy place with casino - or high rise hotels with lots of people - this isn't the place. If you want a quiet getaway, with great diving, this is it. |
