Does anyone have any information about Roatan? I have seen some threads when I did a search and a trip report for Coco resort. But I was wondering what other's experiences have been.

I loved CoCo View, but in doing some more research about Roatan I came across this place, the Oak Bay Resort:

http://www.roatandiving.com/

According to their website (and I'm not making this up):

"Nude scuba diving can also be arranged for those who are interested."

Can you say "shrinkage?"

Apparently it's also for sale:

The CoCo View resort in Roatan really caters to divers and photographers. They do 2 boat dives morning and afternoon, and shore diving is unlimited. There have been very few places that I’ve been to that offer shore diving as convenient as CoCo View. Night dives are wonderful...great macro on the walls or the Prince Albert (wreck).

Accommodations are rustic, comfortable, and romantic. I prefer the cabanas over the water which have a screened wall looking out into the ocean…nice view for sunrises and sunsets.

You couldn’t ask for a friendlier, more attentive crew. Meals are “home-cooked” and are included in the price of the accommodations.

So far my favorite Caribean diving is Lighthouse Reef in Belize. I also enjoyed Bloody Bay Wall at Little Cayman but only got 2 days of it on the Aggressor where as they spent almost the whole week at LHR. The reason I prefer that type of diving is because of the shallow depths at the tops of the walls. After a nice wall dive, you get to spend as long as you like, virtually doing your safety stop, below the boat at the top of the wall. While Grand Cayman and Turks and Caicos have equally dramatic walls, they are 40' - 50' deep at the tops, which doesn't allow you the unlimited bottom time.

We were there last year. Stayed at Fantasy Island all inclusive resort right beside Coco View and were pleased with the hotel (for a 3 star it was pretty good). Diving setup was AWESOME!! Apparently the diving is better on the other side of the island (Anthony's Key resort is popular) and there is more wildlife to see. On the side we were on it was more coral than wild life

We stayed at Anthony's Key Nov. 2005. It's a fabulous setting, with cabanas over the water on a small seperate island. Meals included. Three nice dive boats on site, going out mornings, afternoons and night dives. Kayaking and shore dives. Swimming pool. The dolphin training facility is in the same lagoon as the resort. Horseback riding. Canopy zip line trip very cheap.

Dive sites within 10 minutes in most cases.

Why isn't everyone going there? Price for one. Number two, this is a dive resort, not a walk down the beach and go shopping place.

Default We thought it was very affordable

If you compare it to Mexico and are coming from Canada. WestJet flies there direct!
