Default Caye Caulker, Belize

My GF and I just got back from 10 days on Caye Caulker, Belize. This is just to the south of Ambergris Caye, where we visited about 2 years ago. Here is a quick synopsis:

Hotel - stayed at the Caye Caulker Condos, probably one of the most expensive on the island but it turns out it was definitely the best place on the island. Barbara really runs a tight ship and you will be pleased if you stay here.

Diving - used Belize Diving Services, I'm bittersweet here. I usually like to find a PADI 5-star (burned too many times with anything less) but there isn't one on the island. This shop was very professional and they were fun on the boats. However, the fullest tank I could get was 2900lbs, and that was one-of-a-kind during my 10 day stay. I tipped my DM very well because the first day on the boat, I looked at my tank pressure and it was just less than 2700... imho that isn't a full tank! He hooked up my tank to 4 tanks before he found the 2900lb tank and that was about the fullest tank I saw on the boat. Other than that, they knew the reefs very well and took us on some good dives. I am VERY interested in comments about this, I'm trying to not be too much of a snob but diving is expensive and I've never seen tanks on a boat that were consistently this low - and I have over 140 dives logged.

Anyway, there are great restaurants on the island. Only a couple of trucks, mostly bicycles or walking on this island - which was really good to experience.

BTW - the owner/operator emailed me and basically said I should have raised cain before I left... that is really why I'm bittersweet about them. Just make sure you get this straight before anyone uses them!

I'm starting to get curious about the number of people who have described short fills in Belize. Hard to imagine that it's in their interest... are they trying to save a few dollars somehow? Less time below? Less wear and tear on the compressor in the shop? I've never had a tank below 3000. I'm going to San Pedro next February... first time in Belize.
