Default ST. Thomas Dive Info

I'm just wondering if anyone might be able to recommend a dive shop they've had a good experience with in St. Thomas. I will be stopping there as one of my ports of call on a cruise and would like to dive but prefer not to go on an excursion sponsored by the cruise ship. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and happy diving.

Try the chris sawyer diving center. I've always heard good things about them from folk who dive St. Thomas.

Default Thanks

Thanks for the info Greg. Coincidentally, I did book my dive with Chris Sawyer prior to seeing your remarks. The thing that attracted me was the advertised "Criuse Special". A word of caution to anyone planning to dive in St. Thomas who's on a cruise ship.....make sure you're clear with the dive shop about time zones! Our cruise ship, which was out of Miami was on Eastern Time. St. Thomas is one hour ahead..on Atlantic time. So when I showed up at Chris Sawyer's dive shop it was 8:40 my time, but 9:40 their time. You can imagine my disappointment when they told me the boat had left. My opinion is that they should be a little bit clearer when they advertise it as a "Cruise Special". Luckily, the guy in the shop made a call for us and located another boat that was headed out at 10:30 am local time. The operation was called "Dive In" and they are located in the Sapphire Beach resort. My brother and I had a private dive, (just the two of us, a divemaster, and the captain of the boat), for the same price as Chris Sawyer's dive. It was really great! Ask for Scott and Bob at Dive-In if you ever make it to St. Thomas!!!
